I was born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1982. My family and I came to America as refugees in 1991, as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh War, which took place shortly before the fall of the Soviet Union. We settled in Providence, Rhode Island.
I engaged in photography while in my second year at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth (2001-2006). Since 2006 I’ve worked as a freelance photojournalist, mainly in the Southeastern Massachusetts area, traveling to different parts of New England to cover various stories.
Finding a balance between self-expression and composition is always my intention. And my goal is to record that balance, in the style that my content dictates.
I currently live and work in NYC.
